1.0 out of 5 stars Handle release impossible at best!!, April 23, 2010

I thought we would love this car seat, however trying to push in the handle releases is such an aggravation and getting it to release the first time is almost impossible! I contacted Baby Trend and they told me to spray a little cooking spray on it and that it was a safety feature. I called back again after the spray didn't work and was again told it was a safety feature and it's how the seat was designed. I highly doubt any of those customer service reps have ever tried out the seat. Our daughter has severe reflux and there's been several occasions where she has began to choke and getting her quickly out of the seat was imperative. I ended up sticking the car seat in the garage and spending another $140 on a new car seat due to the stupid handle releases.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too difficult to use, May 18, 2009
K. Pettengill (Minnesota) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Baby Trend Flex Loc Car Seat, Vanilla Bean (Baby Product)
This carseat was a dissappointment. I figured that Baby Trend would have atleast made a decent design, but they have failed at this carseat. The handle is too difficult to release, even for my husband. Also, in the winter you cant have the canopy on and use a cover for the carseat or the handle won't go down. The design for the buckle is horrible, super hard to hold together and get locked when you have a crying baby. Also, the shoulder straps don't allow enough room when your child gets to the upper end of the weight limit. My son is 18 lbs and the straps don't have any movement for when he grows a little bit more. We are getting rid of this and looking for another for our next child. The matching stroller was a peice too. Overall, good looking, easy to clean, but a VERY poor design. Not worth the hassle.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hate it!, February 22, 2012
This review is from: Baby Trend Flex Loc Car Seat, Vanilla Bean (Baby Product)
Everything about this seat is horrible! If you dont have the latch system in your car you can not get the base tight! If you do have the latch system, you can get the seat tight but then you can't get your hand in between the car's seat and infant seat to un-latch it from the base. The harness can be difficult to tighten at times as well as the handle release. Not to mention it is a heavy car seat.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great swing with lots of bells and whistles makes for a long review!, August 29, 2008
Carolyn Bracey (Key West, FL) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have owned and used the Sweetpeace for a little over three months now, waiting to write a review until I got to know it well.

I have a ten-year-old son. When I entered the market for baby products once again in 2008, I was amazed at how much more complicated things were. When a simple, battery powered open-top swing was the best you could get in 1998, a "Soothing Center" that promised everything next to changing the baby's diaper was on the market now! I was cynical about it all, but must admit that many of the features on this product claimed to make improvements to issues that I remembered learning by trial and error with baby #1 could use improvement. I decided to try it out as the one big nicety of my baby gear shopping.

First of all, the pros:

~ To address other reviews, I hear no difference between the motor noise on this and what I remember my battery powered Graco open-top swing sounding like. If it uses electricity, it will make some... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than a regular swing!, February 4, 2008
Mommy of 2 (Gretna, NE) - See all my reviews
We went to the store looking for a baby swing and happened upon this instead. My husband didn't want to purchase it because of the price (it is a little expensive). I was able to talk him into it and he later apologized because it is so great! It was very easy to assemble, it has a cord so it doesn't burn through lots of batteries (it will operate on batteries if you are not near an outlet), and the seat is cute, comfy and functional. I think the best feature is that you can remove the seat it comes with and use your Graco SnugRide car seat instead. (it also accepts the Graco Infant SafeSeat) My daughter is actually sleeping in her car seat in the sweetpeace right now! It is a lifesaver when you get home and baby is sleeping in the car and wakes when you stop moving. This keeps her sleeping or lulls her back to sleep without having to take her out of the carrier.
It does make a rhythmic sound as it swings, like a swing would. I think this actually helps keep baby... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but overpriced and needs improvements, September 12, 2008
Bill Kearney "wkearney99" (Bethesda, MD USA) - See all my reviews
3 months in now and I have some observations. The reviews here are reasonably accurate. It is a bit overpriced. But it is well made.

Yes, the motor makes some noise. But it's a rhythmic noise and doesn't bother us or, more importantly, the baby. It's a 'get used to it' sort of thing. The mechanism seems smartly designed as it allows the seat to get stopped while the motor is still running. That is, you want to move the baby around but forgot to turn it off. It doesn't get bound up or break when you stop it swing.

So far I can't imagine using any of the faster speeds. Geez, it's practically be an amusement park ride at anything faster than the 2 speed. Unless you're training a tiny astronaut (or WANT the kid to upchuck) I can't see using the faster settings.

The lap bar is boring, there's "not enough" for the kid to do with it to bother with it. The bar does work and contrary to another reviewer, I have found it stays up when only one side is... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Great seat, great deal!, September 21, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Chicco Keyfit 22 Pound Infant Car Seat And Base, Hazelwood (Baby Product)
After a LOT of research I decided on the KeyFit 22 for my second child. The Britax B-safe was the runner up but is heavier and a little pricier. For our first child we had had the Graco Snugride but that was purchased in 2005 and had long since been passed on. The KeyFit is a sturdy, well made seat and gets my vote for ease of use and a great price tag! It is very easy to install properly with the easy-to-see leveling bubble and the built in adjustor with a lot of different height options to level it off. I remember taking my first car seat to the fire station to check that it was installed properly only to have them stuff a swimming pool 'noodle' (cut in 2ft lengths) under the seat to get it level. This is soooo much easier!

Quick Pros:
1. very easy to install at the proper angle
2. can be used with or without the base
3. machine washable cover. I have taken it off just to see how easy it was, it only took a few minutes, but haven't actually washed it yet so... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Infant car seat!, June 15, 2011
B. Olsen - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Chicco Keyfit 22 Pound Infant Car Seat And Base, Hazelwood (Baby Product)
We've been very pleased with this car seat. We opted for the keyfit 22 over the key fit 30. These seats, like all infant seats, aren't exactly light and then put a 30 pound baby in it... oooff! That's heavy and wouldn't be fun to carry to/from the car. With our son at 20lbs I'm confident we made the right decision. If you opt for the keyfit 30, once your child outgrows it, you'll still need a rear facing convertible seat so you'll only be putting off buying your next seat for a while.

The harness is easy to adjust and tighten with a pull of a single strap and the sternum strap is easy to open and close which is not the case for all seats.

Installing the base is super simple with the LATCH system and can be swapped between cars in under a minute once you know the drill. The seat installs into the base with a solid "click" letting you know your little one is safe and sound and removing the seat is just as easy. You can even use the seat without the base using the... 4.0 out of 5 stars Good choice for smaller cars, April 27, 2011
Winterlove79 "winterlove79" (MA) - See all my reviews
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Chicco Keyfit 22 Pound Infant Car Seat And Base, Hazelwood (Baby Product)
I bought this car seat with the hopes that I would be able to fit all three of my kids in my tiny Honda Civic. At first I was apprehensive about the cost, but decided to try this before trading my car in for a minivan. I am pleasantly surprised! It fits in the middle between a booster and a forward facing car seat. Yes, it is a tight squeeze, but it works.

The only downside to this carseat that I have found so far is that it does not sit securely on top of shopping carts like my other infant seats did.
